The Chancellor of Victory International Institute of Theology and Education (VIITE), Prof. Sam Ale, has commended the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Mr. John Kennedy Opara for his visionary leadership and the giant strides he has achieved in the Pilgrimage  subsector in Nigeria. He disclosed this during his visit to the NCPC Corporate Headquarters recently in Abuja.

Prof. Sam further commended the NCPC boss for how he has been able to increase the number of Christians who travel to the Holy Land yearly. In his words, “today, the number of Christians who travel on pilgrimage has increased from hundreds to thousands and Christians in Nigeria are performing pilgrimage with ease and joy’’.

The Chancellor of the VIITE affirmed that the just concluded presidential pilgrimage was a huge success. He stressed that this was the first time in the history of Nigeria that a sitting Christian President is performing Holy Pilgrimage. Adding that the President has gone to Israel to pray for Nigeria two consecutive times, according to him “this Presidential Pilgrimage will certainly usher in peace and prosperity to our country”.

In his response, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, Mr. John Kennedy Opara thanked the Management of the Institute for their visit and urged them to continually pray for the Leadership of Nigeria.

He maintained that it is his desire for people to go on Holy pilgrimage and come back morally and spiritually transformed. According to him, “People who go on Holy pilgrimage and do not encounter Jesus have failed. It is my desire for people to go and come back renewed”.

He added that the Commission is using pilgrimage as a tool for moral and spiritual transformation, which is in line with the transformation agenda of Mr. President.

Mr. Opara stressed the need for people to work hard and make themselves available so that they could contribute their quota to the growth of Nigeria. He explained that we all have a role to play in order to make our country a better place. According to him, “things do not just happen; we have to make them work”.
