NCPC HOLDS MAIDEN SECURITY ORIENTATION FOR 2016 PILGRIMAGE TO ISRAEL, ROME AND GREECE

The Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) held a two day security Orientation for security personnel and staff of the Commission who will be participating in this year’s pilgrimage.

The event which took place at the Conference Hall of FCT Christian Pilgrim Welfare Board, wUSE Zone 5, Abuja between 11th to 12th November, 2016 attracted very high profile Security Personnel drawn from the Armed Forces and relevant Security Agencies.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Security of NCPC, Rev. Tor Uja stated that Security remains the most important thing people could have. He explained that safety of Pilgrims is very critical to the Commission and there is need to explore the network of partnership with different arms that work with the Commission to ensure a hitch free 2016 pilgrimage.

Rev. Uja who reiterated the theme of the security orientation which is “keeping Nigerians Safe Home and Abroad”,  stressed that he would want Nigerians to be safe not only in Nigeria but abroad.

In the words of the NCPC boss: “we want to ensure that all pilgrims officials and operatives would be kept safe from all imaginary problems”. He pointed out the need for the security personnel to involve in this pilgrimage to carry out serious underground work before the arrival of pilgrims in the holy sites destinations.

The NCPC helmsman also informed that members of the security sub committee as part of their assignments would visit all the designated Airports to be used for this year’s pilgrimage as well as the hotels in Israel, Rome and Greece to ensure they are all safe for the pilgrims.

He assured Nigerians that the Commission would come back with all the pilgrims who would travel to the Holy Land for this year’s pilgrimage.

He explained that the Commission had done all the needful in terms of screening and rescreening and had organized medical orientation to ensure that the pilgrims are well and healthy.

Rev.  Uja hinted that from next year intending pilgrims would no longer be screened and given orientation at the Airports as the Commission had started a process of acquiring a 1000 hectares of land to build pilgrims’ centre in Abuja and some states which would be used for the orientation of intending pilgrims.

He called on the private sector to invest in pilgrimage by sponsoring Christians to go on Holy Pilgrimage to pray especially considering the importance of prayer to this nation and our national life. He affirmed that prayer has been the only thing that has kept us as a nation.

The NCPC boss further affirmed: “we need to build to a nation that is healthy in which everyone is provided for where you can live a productive life”.

Earlier in his remark, the Chairman Security Sub Committee 2016 pilgrimage, Major General Emmanuel Nienge stated that the essence of the security orientation was to ensure a hitch free pilgrimage operation this year.

Various relevant papers were presented by seasoned resource persons who are experts in security matters. Such papers are aimed at addressing the issue of abscondment, importance of effective screening of intending pilgrims, Consular duties on pilgrimage, general over view of security and its impact on the nation and its people, understanding the policies and politics of a host nation, inter-alia.
